Our club held its annual lambing day on Sunday 10th April 2011, and we are pleased to report that the event was yet again a great success! We had over 1400 visitors throughout the day, and with all our entry fees (£1 per person) going to charity, over £1400 will be donated to the Pilgrims Hospice from the event. The gorgeous sunny weather drew in the visitors, who enjoyed watching the lambing and playing numerous games such as coconut shy, lucky dip and tombola. The small animal petting area went down a treat and children patiently waited to have a go at cuddling some of our sock lambs. Over 200 children also participated in our easter challenge, finding the lambs hidden around the farm to win a prize. Many thanks to the helpers and visitors alike, who helped make the day possible and more to the point, helped to make it such a success! |

Check out the resources page for our promotional poster regarding our club's annual lambing day! This will once again be held at Rawnie Farm, just off Appledore High Street, thanks to Les Ramsden and family. Lambing day will be held on Sunday 10th April, 10am - 4pm, and offers the usual events and activities to make it a fantastic fun day out. There is the usual (unbelievably popular) BBQ, small animals as well as lambs to pet, games to play, cakes to eat, refreshments to enjoy, plants to buy and of course lambing to watch. Entry is just £1 per person, which we are donating to Pilgrims Hospices this year. So come along for a fun-filled day and don't forget your wellies! |

;) Ashford YFC challenged North Downs YFC for the county G'zunda trophy last weekend. The G'zunda trophy is specific to Kent, and is a ceramic decorated bed pan that 'Gazunda' the bed - hence the name! Any club in Kent can challenge the club who holds the trophy. They can challenge the club to anything they like in order to try and win the trohpy, but rules stipulate they only have to give 24 hours notice! Previous challenges have included rugbty matches, a plank walking pub crawl and a catapult making competition.
On a sunny Sunday morning, the Ashford club challenged North Downs to an egg throwing competition. Club members teamed up in pairs, and had to throw an egg to each other, across an ever increasing distance, when the egg broke, the pair were out of the competition. 4 pairs from each club took part, and it soon seemed that Ashford would be victorious, as three pairs from North Downs went out in quick succession. However, the remaining pair from North Downs stayed in until the end, when at 16 metres distance from each other, the last Ashford team went out! So having challenged North Downs, in order to regain the trophy, which they won from Ashford in April 2009, Ashford YFC went away empty handed - but I suspect another challenge will be just around the corner! |

Our annual lambing day, held on Easter Sunday at Appledore once again, was a huge success! We estimate that over 1500 visitors came through the gate, and we raised over £2500 on the day! Approximately 400 children took part in the Easter challenge to win a prize, we sold out of homemade cakes 10 minutes before closing, the BBQ sold out after the lunchtime rush and 12 lambs were born during the day. Overall, a record-breaking year, despite the drizzly weather and a water-logged field denying our visitors their usual free parking! Take a look at the news snippet from the Kentish Express (under the Resources section), to see a couple of pictures. |

After more than 60 years of club activity, we thought the time had come to give our club its very own website! Another line of advertising and another way for people to get in touch can only be a good thing, so enjoy what we have to showcase and spread the word! |
