About Us

Our club is made up of over 40 members, who come from a variety of different backgrounds. Most of our members are aged between 17 and 30, but we do let the occasional older member tag along!

We meet every Wednesday evening at different locations and enjoy a varied and exciting weekly programme, including farm walks, guest speakers, treasure hunts, pub meets, demonstrations, quiz nights, games nights and generally having fun followed by a pint at the nearest pub!

Our club was founded in 1942 by Gordon Hayward, and has grown from strength to strength over the decades. As one of 11 open clubs in the county, the Ashford & District club welcomes new members from younger school clubs, as well as entirely new members, who have simply heard about our club throught the grapevine!

We are primarily a self-funded club run by the members, for the members. We concentrate on having fun, learning as much as we can and fundraising for local charities.

Our club meets every Wednesday evening throughout the year, come rain or shine. We enjoy a varied weekly programme, including quiz nights, games nights, pub meets, guest speakers, demonstrations, farm walks, treasure hunts, inter-club competitions, dancing, business talks and much much more!

Our weekly programme is complemented by a busy socialising and fundraising programme throughout the year, from dinner dances to discos, race nights to lambing days. We hold a lot of events ourselves, but don't forget, we are a part of the large network of Kent Young Farmers. We therefore attend and support a lot of county events and competitions throughout the year.
